This is something I've connecting to for awhile and is in most threads of my writing anymore. Having lived all over the world, as a war reporter, the key, often is communal support, the earth, even having basic needs met. As a survivor, we are often more likely to face struggles in economic spaces and physical pain (body keeps score) which the system keeps us in chronic pain and this degrades the mental health of a person. Sadly, white people self-care is isolation and colonized. Your line here, “self care,” is overly self-indulgent and often harmful to the communal well-being" hits a home run.
